Me Yves Papineau graduated at the University of Ottawa in 1978 and is a Quebec Bar member since 1979. He is practicing in Montreal, mostly in Real Estate law and hypothecary recourse. He is a member of the Chambre nationale des experts en copropriété whose headquarters are in Paris. Me Papineau is also an instigator of the Salon de la copropriété of Montreal, which he co-promoted in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Me Papineau teached at l'École du Barreau and gave lectures at the Quebec Bar, the Canadian Bar, the Chambre des notaires du Québec and the Regroupement des Gestionnaires et Copropriétaires du Québec. In may 2009, Me Papineau has organized, in collaboration with Me Christine Gagnon, the france-quebec symposium on the 40th anniversary of co-ownership in Quebec. He also wrote many articles for the Investissement Immobilier publication, the Revue du Notariat, the Condo Liaison bulletin and participated to television broadcasts, including J.E., La Facture, Vos droits and Mêlez-vous de vos affaires.

He is a member of the Groupe de travail sur la copropriété instigated by the Chambre des Notaires du Québec in cooperation with the Minister of justice.

Besides practicing law, he is an accredited mediator and acts regularly as a referee in co-ownership issues.
